9 Bathroom Design Trends For 2023

If you feel as if it’s time for a refresh to your bathroom, let’s look at the latest bathroom design trends for 2023. Previously gray and big slate and granite options were popular the last few years, giving a darker and more intimate look and feel. This year it’s all about colors, space maximization, and utility function. There’s also a bigger push for sustainability and even smart bathroom are starting to show some life.

1. Blue is trending

Traditionally we’ve seen our bathrooms being primarily white, but colors are making a big comeback recently, especially when it comes to cooler colors such as blue. The combination with the white background helps

bring a classy pop to the entire space. There’s a certain combination and balance that comes with accenting your bathroom with these rich colors throughout.

2. Marble is still in

The traditional motif of white with marble walls is still relevant and offers that expanded refinement you’re looking for in your bathroom renovation. It allows for you to accent your bathroom with bright brass fixtures to help bring the right blend of the two features. You cannot go wrong with this classic look. In general all white bathrooms with an offset floor color, either dark tile or wood, is becoming a popular choice again.

3. Wood accents are welcome

There’s nothing that gives a bathroom that more natural and cozy vibe than wooden accents everywhere. The best part is how well wood not only works with common white tiles, but can be combined with patterns, and the furniture and fixtures you’d like to have in the bathroom. You can accessories with bamboo and wicker-based products to complete the look. Or you can go beyond the accent, and make it the primary material and color choice.

4. Fun with big tiles

Big tiles are not only making a splash with bathroom design trends, but they’re also combined with tiles of various shapes and sizes. They’re a great option to offer unique new designs to your bathroom, especially in your shower area. You will easily see the vast number of combinations and possibilities and since it’s all about richer and deeper colors this year you can mix and match for what you want it to look like. Then you can do contrasting colors for the fixtures and showerhead to bring a nice style to your bathroom design.

5. Standalone bathtubs

Your bathroom is not only a place to clean yourself, but it’s also a place for you to, from time to time, take away the stressors from the outside. Having a free-standing tub as the centerpiece of your bathroom design in 2023 is becoming a popular idea, as you’ll be able to build a peaceful place to relax and not think about what’s happening outside. You can easily combine this with various calmer tones and motifs to bring a true Zen experience.

6. Earth tones are also in

Continuing with our free-standing tubs, the right types of tones to put in and around should be those earth and natural tones. You can build in a sky light or bright lights to give the appearance that your bathroom is outdoors and get that natural lighting in there with you. Populate the place with plants and those white stones and you’ll feel like your bathroom is one of those bathrooms from those exotic paradise locations. All from the comfort of your own home, without the need for hectic travels.

7. Floating cabinetry and vanities

What we’re noticing more and more are vanities and your sinks hovering above the floor. Having that extra space below helps to give the bathroom an airier feel, and not so much of a focus on the vanities themselves. In the past big vanities were popular, but made those bathrooms feels a lot smaller than they actually were. They’re aesthetically pleasing and if you want, can utilize the extra space below for easy to reach storage with some baskets, adding to the overall open look and feel.

8. Space maximization for utility

What you’re going to be seeing a lot this year is space maximization. That’s always been the biggest problem with bathrooms, so you want to ensure space efficiency. A great idea is making them more like wet rooms instead of bathrooms with sectioned off spaces. Making the whole place or most of the place readily available to take a shower or bath is what people are looking for.

9. Storage space for a clean home

Vanities lead into cabinetry and before you know it you’ll be using your bathroom as a secondary storage area, more than just for linens but also for longer-term storage items. For those that have the square footage available, this is a great idea to expand your storage capabilities in the bathroom if space allows for it. This is perfect for those looking to keep everything orderly and neat as well.

With so many trending ideas, in the end, it’s ultimately up to you what you want. A bathroom can be a comfort zone, or a place to relax and rejuvenate, or it can be more functional and have it simply working for you.
